Hi! I'm Jessica Rey- I'm a swimsuit designer who can't draw, sew, or swim! Wait... what??? How in the world did that happen? After college, I moved to LA to get my MBA and worked at a television production company as an accountant (a very exciting job if you love excel spreadsheets and calculators). A talent manager suggested I try acting and, though I thought she was crazy, I gave it a try. I ended up booking my first few commercial auditions and found that I really enjoyed it. After about a year, I decided to find a television/film agent. No one would sign me because... well...I had no experience except for commercials and had never taken an acting class. I ended up finding a tiny agency that agreed to take me on and booked my first television audition as the White Power Ranger on Disney's Power Rangers Wild Force. It was pretty much the best job I had ever had- I mean, who doesn't want to be a superhero everyday? I also have my own action figure (don't be jealous). I continued acting after that and landed more guest starring and recurring roles on tv.
My daily “uniform” was a bikini because hanging out at the pool between auditions and jobs became my life. One day, after much contemplation and research, I decided I was done with bikinis (watch my talk 'The Evolution of the Swimsuit' for a tiny glimpse of the 'why' behind this decision, but many factors lead to this- more than can be explained in a 9 minute video. If you want to know more, come to one of my talks or read my book 'Decent Exposure'). After shopping for an alternative to a bikini and not finding one that didn't make me look three times my age, I decided to make my own. Many of my friends wanted one too, so I put my MBA to use and started my own company: Rey Swimwear.
In 2017, eight years after founding Rey Swimwear, I launched a line of dresses, skirts, and tops-- Estella (named after my beautiful mother, whom I miss dearly, and my daughter). Both Rey Swimwear and Estella draw inspiration from Audrey Hepburn- timeless and feminine. I am committed to ethical sourcing and production and only work with manufacturers who share these values. I believe in the dignity of all people- those who make my clothing and those who wear it.
I'm also a wife and mommy to three littles (above all, that's the best job I've ever had- yes, even better than being a Power Ranger). I love to travel and salted caramel is my weakness. Perhaps we will meet one day at a talk or comic con. Until then, you can see more of my crazy life on social media.
Mum of 3 boys with another on the way. Ordered this all the way from
Ireland and it was totally worth it. Love the style and I am now 6 months pregnant and the suit still feels great. Hope to get many years of wear out of it.
I fit squarely in the measurements for medium in waist and hip, and my bust is size small. I have the Grace in pear-shaped small and it fits nicely so I wasn’t sure how to size this suit. I chatted with their expert stylists online and a medium was recommended, runs small in the top. I’m happy to say it fits perfectly! I like that the straps are adjustable all the way over the shoulder. The Grace suit isn’t able to do this because of its ruffle and makes it just slightly loose across my bust. This suit feels secure and comfortable. It is so well made. These suits always last for years.
Love my new bathing suit from Jessica Rey. This is my 5th bathing suit from her and it doesn’t disappoint. The hardest thing you need to figure out is what style and color suit you want. Every bathing suit I get from her has lasted years. Love that I can show my daughter modesty can be cute.
